Why mutual aid?

Although large-scale aid provided by international NGOs has its place in preserving life in Gaza, we want to encourage each other to practice giving from a place of solidarity, rather than charity. Mutual aid networks empower Palestinians to use the money donated how they see fit, towards achieving their own goals and aspirations. With the israeli occupation still severely limiting the amount of aid that enters Gaza in spite of the recently agreed ‘ceasefire’, direct financial support remains the only lifeline for many families.

We also encourage colleagues to donate to non-profits run specifically by/for Palestinians.

Mutual aid initiatives

The Sameer Project

The Sameer Project is a donations based aid initiative for Gaza, led by Palestinians in the diaspora. Inside Gaza, they collaborate with local networks to run the Refaat Al Areer, Batoul and Sawarha camps, which house families at increased risk from the genocide. The team also helps families with the costs of repeated displacement, now fundraising for those wishing to return to the North of Gaza following the fragile ceasefire.
